CHRISTINE & KUMARA
July 2017
The tale of Christine and Kumara is one as old as time as individuals from separate cultures come together in love, seamlessly fusing both Indian and Sri Lankan cultures with a destination wedding held at the Galle Face Hotel- an appropriately selected beautiful heritage venue that was the perfect canvas for such a union. As a way of paying ode to the merging of societies, the wedding was celebrated with two ceremonies- one a Christian white wedding and the other a Hindu wedding and reception. Complimenting the subdued tones of the wedding decor were the brightly coloured ensembles and personalities of the family and friends who had gathered for this momentous event. The ceremony exuded a sense of vintage sophistication not only through the gentle tones given by the ivory and pastel pink flora that embellished the event, but also through the vintage Mercedes that started the couples journey as they drove away from the festivities and towards the life they would build together as husband and wife.
TILANTHI & ROBERT
January 2017
A wedding nestled in the arms of nature is the best way to describe the ceremony held in honor of Tilanthi and Robert’s love. The couple stood under a vine and flower ceremonial arch as they promised their love and life to each other during a daytime poruwa ceremony.

The quaint location of the wedding added to the charm of the event, making it one of quiet sophistication. The airy natural atmosphere of the venue represented the gentle ease with which the couple loved each other, thus making clear to all those present at the occasion that their union was one that came as easy as breathing.

The evening reception was one of warmth, as guests dined to a seven course finely curated Sri Lankan dinner, the golden lights from the candles illuminated the garden creating an atmosphere that made the night one of intimacy and love.
SHALINI & SURANJAN
January 2017
Shalini and Suranjan’s wedding was a night of fairy lights and fairy tales, brought to life by the infinite color of flowers and friends. Punctuated by hues of plum and pink, this breezy celebration of love wove together a brilliant tapestry of classic romance and contemporary chic. The centrepiece of the evening was a tree bigger than you can ever imagine, draped in fairy lights and towering wisely above it all; symbolic of the quiet strength, strong roots and natural beauty of this blossoming love. As its twinkling branches extended to the heavens and co-mingled with the stars, loved ones reveled in a night brimming with laughter and joy. Long tables, wooden boxes filled with fresh flowers and the glow of candle-lit glass lent an aura of restrained elegance and luxurious comfort as guests enjoyed each others company and raised their glasses to the couple. All the while, hundreds of lanterns shimmied across the velvet waters of the Negombo lagoon like eternal souls passing by, lighting up the clear dark night as dancing and revelry filled the sleepless air in the land of the living. And while the perfect night could never last forever, Shalini and Suranjan’s love most surely will.
THISAKYA & SHALAKA
December 2016
Thisakya and Shalaka celebrated the start of a new life together with a moving church service and a lavish ceremony for over 750 family and friends.
The bride, who has always loved the great outdoors, wanted nature to play a big part in her special day. With this in mind, the Hilton Grand Ballroom was turned into a stunning secret garden; a lush forest clearing in the most unexpected of places. Weddings by Sonali worked to create a green oasis in the city, overrun with hanging veils of leafy green, curious creeping vines and bright flowers in bloom. Trailing ivy and white blooms cascaded from the bronze, oaky centrepieces and candelabra. Just as sparkling sunlight breaks through a lush, forest thicket, the shimmering glint of tiffany chairs and mercury vases casting a pristine spotlight on everything the light touched.
As night descended upon the thick, forest wilderness, the joyous festivities began, led by a retinue thirty-strong and nourished by soulful music to dance the night away. From dusk till dawn, this was the sweet elegance and unbridled joy of a Midsummer Night’s Dream.
SHANIKA & AYESH
December 2016
Shanika’s and Ayesh’s wedding was a tropical fantasy brought to life. Much like the bride herself, this was a celebration of bold, bright colours and fun tropical vibes. Hues of fuchsia and bursts of orange set the tone for a wedding that put the focus on creativity and fun. Stylish geometric shapes lit by the understated glow of metallic candles added an element of glamour to the festive cheer of all in attendance. Set against the stunning ocean backdrop of the Blue Water Hotel, the stage was set for a night of frolic and merriment – the perfect setting for family and friends to celebrate this cheerful union and tropic like it’s hot!
MATHI & YOHAN
December 2016
Mathi and Yohan rejoiced in the beginning of their life together as though every coming day would be a day of summer. Following an intimate Church service, this couple painted their love on a canvas furnished by nature. This beautiful garden wedding began in the cooling twilight, surrounded by God’s beauty, enveloped in the glow of the setting sun and lit by the shimmering reflection of city lights on serene waters. Wild flowers, vines and vintage light bulbs complemented the gorgeous hues of pink and purple worn by elegant bridesmaids and ecstatic guests who flitted about in revelry like fairies in the night. Under the cool sway of coconut trees wrapping in coils of white light, the couple and those they loved the most, danced the night away, bathed in the light of the moon and stars. This was a true celebration of a love set to blossom.
TEHANI & AMRIT
November 2016
Tehani and Amrit’s vision for their special day was traditional yet a classic ceremony, followed by a tropical wedding reception.
Their intimate Poruwa ceremony was held at the Cinnamon Grand. “Traditional yet classic” requirement was fulfilled with a backdrop of white flowers and little oil lamps that added light to the occasion. The celebratory reception that followed was brought to life with tall arrangements of white roses and dendrobium orchids. A hint of colour was added to the ballroom with purple candles that surrounded the room.
The festivities continued, and a few days later Tehani and Amrith celebrated their wedding with a colourful and vibrant wedding reception. The ceiling of the reception was decorated with colourful parasols, a big contrast to the black and white floor of the room. In keeping with the tropical theme, pineapples were used in place of vases. The pineapples were filled with flowers of bright colours and placed on long tables. The tables were adorned with woven place mats glammed with hot pink napkins.
Adding to the excitement of the evening, a popsicle cart serving nothing but summery popsicles and an open bar added further to the look and feel of the evening. A photobooth set up with bright and fun props were made use of by the guests to create long lasting memories of this beautiful night.
VAISHNAVI & RAMESH
March 2016
The wedding of this happy couple was one that exuded romance and the promise of a life full of love as the banquet hall at the Galle Face Hotel came to life with the vibrant colors of love- pink, lavender and minc. The floral show pieces and the golden undertones incorporated into the decor alluded to a rich and bright future for the couple that all friends and family had gathered to celebrate. The event was definitely one for the books as laughter and joy permeated the air filling every last corner with the dancing sense of warmth and hope. The beauty of the ceremony was only upstaged by the bride and groom whose happiness was, when put simply, unparalleled. We wish them both a life filled with love and laughter
